7 September 2010 – Byrne and Partners LLP highly recommended by the Legal 500 2010 Edition

Byrne and Partners continues to be highly recommended by the Legal 500 UK 2010 Edition, published today.

The firm again appears in the first and second tier in the fields of white collar crime and civil fraud/ regulatory investigations. It also moves up one tier, to sixth, in the field of dispute resolution, where it is listed amongst several much larger firms.

The 2010 Edition points out the firms achievements in “several major disputes that firms 30 times its size would envy” citing particular highlights such as “obtaining a £425m freezing order for Yukos Capital against Rosneft”. The Guide also notes: “Founding partners Bernard O’Sullivan and Nicola Boulton are recommended. The ‘excellent’ Yvonne Jefferies is ‘extremely knowledgeable, tough and very user friendly’”.

Within Fraud: civil and regulatory investigations, the Guide reports Senior partner Bernard O’Sullivan “has ‘excellent judgement, and is measured and very professional’. Also recommended is the ‘tenacious and ruthlessly efficient’ Nicola Boulton. Over the last year the firm has represented Yukos on multiple matters, including the successful recovery of business and assets worth $60m expropriated by former company managers”.

Within Fraud: white-collar crime, David Byrne is ‘an éminence grise in the area of commercial crime, in particular tax fraud, and everyone knows it – which is a tremendous tactical benefit’. Insider dealing and asset recovery specialist Michael Potts ‘combines an incredibly high level of academic ability with tremendous tactical nous’. Matthew Frankland is also recommended, for his experience in major criminal fraud trials and investigations.”
